What is meal facilitation?
Meal facilitation is a phrase we coined to distinguish our services from those of personal chefs, who charge high prices to prepare meals in customers’ homes. While personal chefs are a great luxury for busy people, few can afford them.
My Other Kitchen helps busy people assemble monthly meals in about two hours. On their scheduled session date and time, customers come to the What’s Cooking kitchen where all of the recipe ingredients are ready and waiting. Customers go from station to station, assemble meals according to easy-to-understand instructions, wrap and label their meals, and take them home. It’s quick, simple, and fun, and our friendly staff is always on hand to help out.
How much does it cost?
Full Session (twelve entrées, four to six servings each): $220.00
Half Session (six entrées, four to six servings each): $125.00
Optional Additional Entrées: $18.00 each plus tax
How do I register?
Flexibility is important to us, which is why we provide three registration options:
1. Register online by clicking on Sign Me Up! Our online process will walk you through choosing your session date and time, entrée and service selections, and payment options. The process really is very user friendly!
2. Call us at (518) 587-6747 and we’ll register you from our computer, if access to one is not an option for you.
3. Call and we can guide you through while you are on your computer!
What payment options are available?
My Other Kitchen accepts payment through several methods.
You can pay by credit card or check on our Website, myotherkitchen.info or you can call and give me your credit card info and we will input it for you. Please note that that we must receive payment no later than 5 days prior to the scheduled session date!
How does My Other Kitchen save customers time?
Advance preparation takes most of the customer work out of the meals. We do the meal testing, planning, shopping, and prep work like chopping and slicing. We also prepare ingredients when they require advance attention, like simmering sauces from scratch, mixing and chilling flavored butters, par-boiling noodles, and browning meats.
Customers can freeze meals up to six months. When you’re ready to cook a meal, simply remove it from the freezer and follow the cooking instructions on the label we provide. Typically designed to cook in thirty minutes or less, our meals require only basic preparation (usually after thawing) such as baking, simmering, sautéing, or grilling. Meals that require more time may be slow-cooked in a crock pot, which can be left unattended.
If you want to save even more time, My Other Kitchen can assemble your meals for you at a modest additional charge. Delivery service is also available.
How does My Other Kitchen save you money?
We buy high-quality ingredients at wholesale prices, and pass the savings on to our customers. And since we’re preparing for many customers at once, you can try new recipes and eat a more diverse menu, without investing in full-sized containers of spices and herbs, cooking wines, extracts, and other expensive ingredients.
Also using My Other Kitchen, you will make fewer trips to the market, fewer impulse purchases, and fewer stops for fast and/or processed foods and less spoilage.
What makes My Other Kitchen's meals healthier than fast food or prepared foods?
We offer superior ingredients like restaurant-quality meats, poultry and seafood, which are a grade above that which customers can buy in the grocery store. We use only real flavorings, juices, and extracts, and often choose fresh herbs over dried. We use fresh fruits and vegetables whenever possible, and add no preservatives during meal assembly (although some canned ingredients, like chicken broth and other staples, may already contain some).
And, of course, the entrée choices themselves (like Roasted and Stuffed Chicken Breasts, Black Bean and Corn Quesadillas, and Grilled Mahi Mahi with Pineapple Salsa) are often more nutritionally balanced than fast-food and processed meals.
What are the menus like?
We focus on creating seasonal menus with wide appeal. We also like trying out new and interesting combinations and flavors. We present customers with fourteen different choices per month and try to offer customer favorites on a recurring basis. Click here to check out our current menus.
Customers also receive a free batch of our homemade Cookie Dough with every order.
What if I don’t like or want certain ingredients in my meals?
We know that everyone has different tastes. Some don’t like onions and others can’t get enough, while kids might not even want to see spinach on their plates. Not to worry, we created My Other Kitchen with flexibility in mind.
Except for the primary meat, poultry, or fish ingredient--which is portion controlled due to cost--customers may alter their entrées as they see fit. If you can’t tolerate cheese, leave it out. Watching your waistline? Reduce the amount of oil. It’s up to you. In fact, we often see customers preparing and packaging a single portion separately for a discriminating eater at home.
What do I need to bring to the session?
You will need to bring a large cooler in which to transport your completed entrees. We provide the rest!
